INTRODUCING MILBEMAX®. The all wormer that protects
against the most common and serious worms that affect cats.
MILBEMAX combines ease of use and broad-spectrum protection to create a
safe, highly effective medicine.
And, because MILBEMAX tablets are smaller and easier to dose than other wormers,
protecting your cat is easier than ever.
Protection Against All of These Worms
ROUNDWORM look like spaghetti. They feed in the small intestine and can
cause diarrhoea or constipation, vomiting, dehydration and stunted growth.
HOOKWORM attach to and feed on the intestinal lining, causing internal bleeding
and anaemia.
TAPEWORM get their name because of their flat, tape-like body shape.
These worms attach to the small intestine and can deprive cats of nutrients,
leading to weight loss, poor coat condition and diarrhoea.
HEARTWORM are amongst the most serious feline parasites.
They can cause respiratory disease, heart disease and sudden death.
All of these worms can weaken your cats's immune system, making him or her
more susceptible to infection.
How do cats get worms?
- Almost all kittens get roundworm from their mother's milk. Roundworm can also
be picked up in the soil or by ingesting infected prey.
- Hookworm can penetrate the skin when cats walk on or ingest contaminated soil.
- Tapeworm are contracted by eating infected meat, ingesting infected animals such as mice, or by swallowing infected fleas during grooming.
- Heartworm are spread when infective mosquitoes bite cats and transfer heartworm larvae.
Roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm can also affect your family.
While human infections from these worms are extremely rare, some cases have been documented.
The good news is, these parasites can be easily prevented by treating your cat with MILBEMAX.
How do people become infected?
- Humans contract roundworm through the ingestion of contaminated dirt.
This can happen to children who play on the ground and put their fingers in their mouths.
- People may become infected with hookworm by touching or accidentally ingesting
contaminated sand or soil. This may happen in common situations like working
in the garden or walking barefoot on a sandy beach.
- Tapeworm can be contracted by the accidental ingestion of infected fleas
or through contaminated soil.
What do these worms do to people?
- Roundworm larvae migrate through the body causing sickness.
If they reach the eyes, they can lead to vision problems - even blindness.
- Hookworm cause itching lesions while penetrating and migrating through the skin.
- Tapeworm may form cysts which infiltrate and destruct vital organs
including the liver and lungs.
WHAT MAKES MILBEMAX A BETTER CHOICE THAN OTHER WORMERS?
Smaller Tablets
- Smaller tablets make MILBEMAX easier to swallow.
- Since cats can be particularly difficult to dose,
MILBEMAX tablets can make the task easier on you.

Comments from Ingleburn Veterinary Hospital:
Milbemax can be given every 3 months for the control of roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm,
but not heartworm. For the control of heartworm, Milbemax should be given monthly.
Clients wanting to prevent heartworm infection (which we recommend) should consider
using Revolution, which for a little extra cost, will also provide control of fleas.
